2007-07-27/31 - Headliner-problems, dashboard
  • Last week, we solved the headliner-problems. When we installed the headliner to the car, we realized, there was quite some visible space between the car body and the headliner, when the roofs were taken off. Now we closed this space with black cloth, which looks really good.
  • I recently decided to install a fire extinguisher into my car, because of all the electronical systems and the danger of causing short circuits. I installed it on the left side of the trunk, so I can reach it anytime.
  • Then we started to prepare the dashboard for the car. Unfortunately the whole dashboard is quite awry and needs a lot of bodywork. Now it kind of fits into the car, but I'm still wondering how the finished dash will look like.
  • Our first step was to cut speaker-openings into the top side of the dash. Then we fitted the TV-frame into the hole in the dash, so it will sit directly on the TFT-display. This way there is no space between the frame and the display.
  • Finally, I tried a little optical change: I covered the inner front lights to see how the car looks with only 4 additional front lights instead of 6. I'll probably tint them black or will cover them for a longer time.
