Arrival, setup & opening
  • The biggest comic conventions in Germany always take place in Dortmund in December. Since my K.I.T.T. has an historic license plate and is registered for the whole year, I can easily participate in them. Thanks to permanent winter tires, even in colder temperatures.
  • This year, the GFCC celebrated its 10th anniversary (2015-2025). 34 actors, 5 wrestlers, and 11 German voice actors were announced for the event. In addition, there were great comic artists and many fan groups - and of course, K.I.T.T. couldn't be missing. For us, it was already the 14th GCC/GFCC!
  • So, on 5th December 2025, I drove to Dortmund again. Fortunately, there was no snow this year, so I got there without any problems and was able to wash the car in the car wash again - and not with a bucket in the hall. I arrived at around 13:00 - earlier than ever before - and was able to take my place in Hall 4 right away.
  • The red carpet for the car was laid out immediately after my arrival, allowing me to set up right away. My spot was ideal: right next to stage 2, where some of the bigger stars were having their panels this year - perfect conditions for perhaps getting some of them taking a photo with K.I.T.T.

  • Next to K.I.T.T., two US police cars also took up position later on: an original patrol car like the cars from "The Rookie" (two of the main actors, Eric Winter and Melissa O'Neil, were also there) and a vehicle from the GCPD - the Gotham City Police Department from "Batman: The Dark Knight". There was also another car from "The Rookie" in Hall 6, which was to be used on Sunday for a prop shoot with the actors and was parked there on Saturday.

  • Comic Con opened at 9:00 on Saturday for early bird ticket holders, and everyone else was allowed in from 10:00. The halls filled up quickly and once again it was very busy! A total of around 20,000 visitors came on Saturday alone. Thanks to his perfect location right at the entrance to Hall 4, K.I.T.T. quickly became a crowd favorite and popular photo opportunity.
Star guests
  • My guest highlight this year was Aaron Paul, aka Jesse Pinkman from "Breaking Bad". Dean Norris (Hank Shrader) was also originally announced, but he had to cancel in advance.
  • Aaron was only there on Saturday, so I had my photoshoot with him then. All my other photoshoots were on Sunday this time, so I was able to spend almost the entire Saturday at K.I.T.T. next to stage 2 to "catch" the star guests whose interview panels were taking place on stage...
  • Unfortunately, Aaron Paul did not have a panel. He also got lost on his way to K.I.T.T. and mistakenly took a seat in another car 😜 - However, the Lotus was quite well suited to its role in "Need for Speed".
  • Another guest highlight were the stars from "The Rookie". Since I haven't seen the series yet, I only took a photo with Eric Winter, who is also known from "Days of Our Lives", "Witches of East End", and "The Mentalist".

  • But lots of stars also stopped by K.I.T.T.! In fact, we welcomed 17 actors and actresses and 2 German voice actors this time! A new record!
  • I had already taken a photo with Temuera Morrisson (Jango/Boba Fett from "Star Wars: Episode II" and "The Mandalorian") in December 2023 so I didn't have another photo shoot with him this time. Instead, I took a photo of Temuera with my K.I.T.T.:

  • I had also already taken a photo with Kristanna Loken (the Terminatrix T-X from "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines") at German Comic Con 2018 2018 in Berlin, where I also photographed her with K.I.T.T. But you can never have enough photos with her, so I had another photo shoot with her this time. Kristanna was also incredibly nice and came to K.I.T.T. for another photo after her panel on stage.
  • I also got her autograph on my "Terminator 2" poster on Sunday. Edward Furlong (John Connor from "Terminator 2") had already signed it in May 2024, and I decided to have everyone else I could meet from the franchise sign it too, even if they had only appeared in one of the other films. Maybe I'll meet Robert Patrick (T-1000 from part 2), Lance Henriksen (Detective Vukovich from part 1), and Brian Thompson (Punk from part 1) again. I had already taken photos with them, but I hadn't gotten any autographs - at least not on this poster.

  • Another highlight for me was Denise Richards ("James Bond 007 - The World Is Not Enough", "Starship Troopers", "Wild Things"). She also had her panel on stage 2, and I was curious to see if she would come to K.I.T.T. afterwards. But she was very relaxed and immediately said, "Sure!" and came along. She came by again on Sunday afternoon and asked if I knew where a certain pretzel stand was. In the end, even stars are only human 😉

  • By the way, Denise is Charlie Sheen's ("Two and a Half Men", "Hot Shots!") ex-wife! I also had the opportunity to meet him in 2019 at German Comic Con Spring Edition in Dortmund 😎
Unfortunately, for organizational reasons, I didn't get a photo with him and K.I.T.T. at the time...

  • Other highlights of the convention included David Arquette ("Scream", "The Outsiders") and Bryce Dallas Howard ("Jurassic World", "Spider-Man 3", "The Village"). While David took a photo with K.I.T.T. after his panel, I unfortunately didn't get to meet Bryce there in person. I was only able to speak to her manager while Bryce was on stage. She declined due to time constraints, but even said that Bryce herself would probably say yes. In fact, quite a few fans rushed to the side of the stage after the panel ended, so it probably wouldn't have worked out for that reason alone. Well, maybe next time... That made her the only guest on stage 2 with whom I didn't get a photo with K.I.T.T. - all in all, still an excellent rate, of course 😉

  • Even though it didn't work out with "Jurassic World," I had better luck with "Jurassic Park". Joseph Mazzello, who played young Tim in the first two films, was a guest. I had a normal photoshoot with him as well as a prop shoot with a Ford Explorer at the "Jurassic Park" gate.
  • Joseph also played Queen band member John Deacon alongside Ben Hardy ("X-Men: Apocalypse") as Roger Taylor in "Bohemian Rhapsody". The two appeared together for a panel on stage 2 and then stopped by K.I.T.T. for a photo:

  • This year, there were also a few German actors at Comic Con. Tina Ruland ("Manta Manta") was the first guest on the panel stage on Saturday. She was running late and actually wanted to take pictures of K.I.T.T. first. I told her that she was welcome have a seat in the car afterwards, but that the moderators on stage were already waiting for her. Afterwards, she took a lot of time for photos and posted them herself on Instagram and Facebook 🙂

  • Another German actress, Eva Habermann, was also there. I remember her from the 90s in "Lexx - The Dark Zone". Besides, she is mainly known for German TV series such as "Wilde Engel", "Immenhof", "Gegen den Wind", "OP ruft Dr. Bruckner", and many other German productions. I was very happy to meet Eva and take photos with her and K.I.T.T.:

  • But there were also some male German actors: five of them are known from Wolfgang Petersen's classic movie "Das Boot" (1981): Erwin Leder, Joachim Bernhard, Martin Semmelrogge, Ralf Richter, and Martin May. I had the pleasure of welcoming all five of them to K.I.T.T. for a group photo.
  • I also took a solo photo with Martin Semmelrogge. I had already done official photo shoots with him and Ralf Richter at the German Comic Con in December 2022, so I didn't need another photo with them this time. Ralf also stopped by K.I.T.T. back then...

  • Another highlight for me was Erin Gray. She is best known as Wilma Deering from "Buck Rogers" and appeared in many 1980s series, as well as in five episodes of "Baywatch" with David Hasselhoff!
  • She also has a special connection to "Knight Rider" because she played a single mother called Nadine Flowers in an episode of the short-lived series "Code of Vengeance" (see photo on the right)! This series is actually an official spin-off of "Knight Rider", as the main characters David Dalton (played by L. Charles Taylor), Joanna St. John (played by Joanna Pettet), and Archibald Hendley (played by George Murdock) were introduced in the 1984 two-part episode "Mouth of the Snake" (season 2, episodes 21+22). The whole thing then served as a backdoor pilot for "Code of Vengeance". I talked to Erin about it for a while and she also told me that in the late 1970s, she had a role in an episode of "BJ and the Bear" that was similar to Bonnie's character in "Knight Rider" - as a mechanic for a wonder car.

  • Another older guest was Sylvester McCoy (the 7th Doctor from "Doctor Who", Radagast from "The Hobbit" trilogy). I had already seen him once before at the German Comic Con in Berlin in 2016. This time, he also stopped by K.I.T.T. after his panel and, at 82 years of age, was eager to take a seat inside. He fooled around behind the wheel and told me about various encounters with David Hasselhoff.

  • I also met Dominic Sherwood ("Shadowhunters"), who was very happy to sit in K.I.T.T., and Addy Miller ("The Walking Dead"), who unfortunately didn't know "Knight Rider" because of her young age, but still took a photo with K.I.T.T. 🙂
  • I also met German comedian Hennes Bender in one of the halls between various photo shoots...

  • As always, German comedian Torsten Sträter was also a visitor at the convention. I didn't see him on Saturday, even though he was there. But on Sunday, I ran into him again. On 4th December (three days earlier), I had attended his live show "Mach mal das große Licht an" ("Turn on the big light") at the Erfurt Messe. I had bought the tickets after our first meeting in May 2024 and then had to wait 1.5 years for the event. I thanked him for the many laughs and he thanked me for financing his life with ticket purchases 😜
  • Batman fan Sträter then turned his attention to Fabian's GCPD police car from Gotham City in "The Dark Knight" and also took a seat in the car. Afterwards, as always, he was surrounded by fans and took lots of selfies with them. He could have come "incognito", but he clearly enjoys the attention 😉

  • Besides, I had a few more official photoshoots:
    • John Hannah ("The Mummy" 1+2, "Four Weddings and a Funeral", "Spartacus")
    • Drew Fuller ("Charmed", "Army Wives")
    • Richard Armitage ("The Hobbit", "Ocean's 8", "Spooks", "Robin Hood" series) und
    • Michael Raymond-James ("Once Upon a Time", "Jack Reacher", "Game of Silence", "FBI: Most Wanted")
German voice actors
  • In addition to the actors, there were also 12 German voice actors. 11 of them were officially there. Sven Plate (German voice of Bugs Bunny and Will Wheaton) also made an appearance. He was invited because Will Wheaton had originally been announced. However, Will had to cancel at short notice. Sven came anyway out of personal interest to visit the convention, but did not have an autograph table this time.
  • My personal highlight was Tommi Piper (German voice of ALF, Mr. Floppy, Tony Danza). I was a big ALF fan as a child and even have a life-size ALF at home. Unfortunately, ALF was too fragile to take him with me, but I definitely wanted to take a selfie with Tommi. The line at his table was always very long, but thanks to my fast lane wristband, I got through relatively quickly and the selfie was taken in no time. I had also considered having a voice message recorded as ALF, but at 84 years old, Tommi's voice doesn't really sound like ALF anymore, so I only took the selfie.
  • Manou Lubowski (German voice of Patrick Wilson, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Ian Ziering) and Björn Schalla (German voice of Seann William Scott, Sebastian Stan, Casey Affleck, Charlie Hunnam) also appeared on stage 2. Both of them came along to K.I.T.T.
Cosplayers
  • At previous Comic Cons, I usually did all my photoshoots on Saturday and then spent Sunday at K.I.T.T. taking lots of photos and videos with passing cosplayers. Since 14 photoshoots were on Sunday this time and I was otherwise mainly busy "catching" the stars on stage 2, I didn't really have any time for the cosplayers this time, even though there were quite a few of them around again. So I only took a few pictures with cosplayers who particularly caught my eye. Plus there was a photo with the "US cops" Fabian and Marcel, who belonged to the two "Rookie" police cars.
Props & other stuff
  • Numerous props and fan groups were also on display in the halls. Among them were two Ghostbusters fan groups, of which "Die Geisterjäger" had by far the most impressive stand. Relatively inconspicuous from the outside, the whole thing turned out to be an elaborately designed "amusement park attraction" where you could take a journey through the world of Ghostbusters. Absolutely impressive and highly recommended if you ever see the guys and their stand at an event!
  • There were also many other booths, including Ariel, Elsa, Doctor Who, Umbrella Academy, Stargate, Retromania Area, Star Wars, and many more.

  • On Saturday evening, I met Douglas Stahl, a YouTuber whom my son (14) has been following for quite some time, in Hall 6. A few years ago, he had posted a short green screen "Knight Rider" video, so I invited him to sit in K.I.T.T. at the end of the day, which he was very happy about. Of course, he also took short video greeting for my son, which made him just as happy 😀
  • On Sunday, I met my buddy Ormau from our ZIDZ.COMmunity, who was there mainly because of the "Jurassic Park" guests. Besides, Susanne and Heiko from Project-K.I.T.T. e.V. accompanied me again throughout the weekend and supported me with K.I.T.T. Thank you very much for that. It's always nice not to be completely alone at an event like this 🙂

  • Conclusion: German Film & Comic Con 2025 was once again a resounding success! K.I.T.T. had a great spot right at the entrance to Hall 4, next to Stage 2, so not only was it very crowded and lots of people took photos with the cheeky wonder car, but I also had the opportunity to welcome a total of 19 star guests to the car. That was a new record! I also had a great time and met lots of nice people. K.I.T.T. was very well received and survived its 14th GCC/GFCC in good shape. We would love to come back again 🙂
