2009-08-05 - New LED scanner mounted
  • Today, we mounted the new LED scanner by Lectric Enterprises. We had to install new aluminium brackets to mount the black cover in front of the scannerbar. Additionally, we had to remove the old halogen scanner, which was quite complicated, too.
  • The new scanner uses ultrabright LEDs instead of 55 Watts halogen bulbs. The trailing effect has been programmed by Lectric, because LEDs don't behave like halogen bulbs. The result is really good - but of course not 100% as good as the halogen trailing effect. But with a current consumption of about 1-1.5 Amperes against up to 35 Amperes with the old halogen scanner, I am willing to accept that fact. Now, I don't have to fear the batterie being empty after about 2 hours. I can even expect it to run for about 60 hours now!
  • There also is one more disadvantage: The new scanner can not be switched on or off via the remote control. So I have to use my door remote to do so. We need to build a special relais circuit for that, which will be done later.
