Day 1 - Saturday (6th May 2023)
  • In May 2023, I was once again able to participate with K.I.T.T. at the German Comic Con Spring Edition in Dortmund. This was our 10th German Comic Con!
  • A total of 58 star guests were announced. In addition, 10 German dubbing voice actors were present. My personal highlights were William Shatner (Captain Kirk from "Star Trek") and Billy Dee Williams (Lando from "Star Wars"). Even if I don't like the sci-fi classics that much, I appreciate both of them because of other roles (e.g. "T.J. Hooker" and Berry Gordy in "The Jacksons - An American Dream"). I also had photo ops with 17 other star guests.
  • So I drove to Dortmund on 5th May 2023. Since I still had a family obligation on this day, I arrived at the exhibition hall only around 7:45 PM. The construction went today only until 8:00 PM, so I used the few minutes just to wash K.I.T.T. by hand (since it had rained until shortly before, the car wash station was not really worth it) and then I only put the car in the hall. I then did the assembly on Saturday morning.
  • This time K.I.T.T. was in the middle of hall 7, not again in front of an unsightly wall, but "right in the middle instead of just being there". Right next to us was the booth of "In Farbe und Bunt" - the fan publishing house of Björn Süter, which also offers the German book "Long Live Knight Rider" . Thematically, it was a good fit. Next to it was also the 2nd Panel Stage, on which mainly Star Trek themes were presented throughout the weekend, and diagonally opposite were the autograph tables of various stars. In addition, almost all visitors to the Main Stage in Hall 8 had to pass K.I.T.T. - So I was very happy with the location 🙂

  • Today I had 19 photoshoots between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Thanks to Fast Lane Pass I managed all appointments without problems. This time I took photos with: William Shatner ("Star Trek", "T.J. Hooker", "Boston Legal"), Gates McFadden ("Star Trek"), Billy Dee Williams ("Star Wars", "The Jacksons - An American Dream"), David Boreanaz ("Buffy", "Angel", "Bones"), Charisma Carpenter ("Buffy", "Angel"), Julie Benz ("Buffy", "Angel", "Dexter"), Taylor Lautner ("Twilight", "Abduction"), Charlie Heaton ("Stranger Things"), Finn Wolfhard ("Stranger Things", "Ghostbusters: Afterlife"), McKenna Grace ("Ghostbusters: Afterlife", "Independence Day: Resurgence"), Logan Kim ("Ghostbusters: Afterlife"), Gwendoline Christie ("Game of Thrones", "Wednesday", Kristin Kreuk ("Smallville", "Beauty and the Beast"), Brandon Routh ("Superman Returns", "Arrow", "Legends of Tomorrow"), Henry Ian Cusick ("Lost", "The 100"), Candice Patton ("The Flash", "The Game"), Katherine McNamara ("Shadowhunters", "Arrow", "Maze Runner"), Scott Adkins ("John Wick 4", "The Expendables 2") and Zach McGowan ("Shameless", "Black Sails").
Day 2 - Sunday (7th May 2023)
  • Sunday morning, as usual, I took the opportunity to take a few photos with the props on display in the (still) empty halls. I posed in the Rainbow Room and Ahoy from "Stranger Things" as well as a backdrop from "Squid Game"...
  • Also, someone had a K.I.T.T. on display 😎 and also the Ghostbusters Germany had a very nice booth with various props. Last but not least I stopped by the Police Academy Germany and was able to give a speech at the lectern next to the Blue Oyster Bar... this time without any incidents underneath the lectern 😉

  • After the gates opened, the visitors streamed into the halls again and I asked some guests again today for a photo with K.I.T.T. - the German dubbing actors accepted the offer enthusiastically: Constantin von Jascheroff (German voice of Anton Yelchin in "Star Trek" and others), Mario von Jascheroff (German voice of Mickey Mouse! ), Martin Keßler (German voice for Nicolas Cage, Vin Diesel), Carlos Lobo (German voice for Javier Bardem, Demián Bichir), Peter Lontzek (German voice for Tom Hiddleston, Timothy Simons), Sascha Rotermund (German voice for Benedict Cumberbatch, Omar Sy, Alexander Skarsgård), Magdalena Montasser (Jenna Ortega) and Carlotta Josefine Pahl (German voice for Millie Bobby Brown), who was here this time as a private person.

  • ... I also met German voice actor and morning TV weatherman Benjamin Stöwe, who appeared on the Star Trek stage, and RTL celebrity hunter Parviz Khosrawi from "RTL Exklusiv".

  • Of course, a Comic Con also includes comic artists. Michael Holtschulte ("Dead but funny") and Oli Hilbring ("Oli's Cartoons") were happy to see K.I.T.T. and shared their encounter with about 100,000 subscribers each on Instagram.

  • And the other stars? They all didn't really want to... - Julie Benz ("Buffy", "Angel", "Dexter"), Logan Kim (probably still too young) as well as Chad Michael Murray ("Dawson's Creek", "Marvel's Agent Carter", "Chosen") refused to take a photo with K.I.T.T., even though the latter at least didn't miss the chance to have a closer look at the car. Vanessa Morgan ("Riverdale") walked by several times, but according to her own statement she didn't know "Knight Rider" and therefore didn't want to take a photo (those young girls...). Being the paparazzi that I am, I still took a snapshot when she came by again...
  • Only Devon Murray ("Harry Potter") was happy about the offer and liked to be photographed with K.I.T.T.
I also took a picture with Jez Bonham, who I thought was one of the many actors from "Harry Potter". When he came by later again, however, it turned out that he is "just" the fiancé of Luisa D'Oliveira ("The 100") and is just starting a career as a musician. Well, should he become famous at some point, I now at least have already a photo 😂 - we still had a very nice conversation for about 10 minutes. By the way, his fiancée also did not want a photo and did not know K.I.T.T. - Those young women! 😉
  • In between, I was allowed to meet William Shatner once again. My friend Manu spontaneously decided that I should bring him an autograph of "Captain Kirk", because the 92-year-old legend will surely not come to Germany too often anymore. So I went to Shatner's autograph table and bought one for him. That went relatively fast - but at least with dedication for Manu.

  • I spent almost the whole day at K.I.T.T. today, answering many fan questions and taking numerous photos with cosplayers...

  • I also received a gift: Bernfried Warning from Duckshop.de was allowed to take photos with a "Michael Knight" rubber duck and K.I.T.T. and presented it right away to me.
  • Otherwise, the many delighted faces over the weekend were "gift" enough. 🥰
It's always incredibly fun to see how well the car is recognized. We are therefore already looking forward to the next time!
  • Finally, at 5:15 PM, there was the big panel with William Shatner, who moderated alone for 45 minutes and told many funny anecdotes. It's hard to believe that the man is already 92 years old. He seemed fitter than some 60-year-olds.
